Manage Your Subscription

Before you start: where you subscribed matters

How you upgrade, cancel, or find receipts depends on where you originally started your subscription:

  • Apple App Store (iPhone/iPad)
  • Google Play (Android)
  • Spanner website (if available in your region)
Spanner can show your current plan status in the app, but cancellations and renewals are controlled by the store or website where you subscribed.

Confirm your billing status

Use these steps when you’re not sure if you’re on Free or Pro, whether your plan is active, or where you’re being billed.

Open Spanner, then go to SettingsAccountPlan & Billing (names may vary slightly by device).

Look for a status like Pro (Active), a renewal date, or a note that your plan is managed by Apple or Google Play.

Make sure you’re signed in with the same Apple ID/Google account you used to purchase, and that you’re using the same Spanner account inside the app (if you have more than one).

If Spanner says your subscription is managed by Apple or Google, the fastest way to confirm is to check your active subscriptions in the App Store / Play Store (steps below).

Upgrade your plan

Upgrading takes effect right away in most cases (you’ll see Pro features available as soon as the purchase completes).

In Spanner, open SettingsAccountPlan & Billing.

Select the plan you want (for example, Pro or a different billing period if available).

Finish the purchase through Apple, Google Play, or the Spanner website, depending on where checkout opens.

If you upgrade and don’t see changes immediately, fully close and reopen Spanner, then revisit Plan & Billing to refresh your status.

Cancel your subscription

Canceling stops future renewals. You’ll usually keep Pro access until the end of your current paid period.

Go to Settings → tap your name (Apple ID) → Subscriptions.

Tap Spanner in the list of subscriptions.

Tap Cancel Subscription (or Cancel Free Trial), then confirm.

If you don’t see “Subscriptions,” your Apple ID may not have any active subscriptions, or you may be signed into a different Apple ID.

Open the Google Play Store app.

Tap your profile iconPayments & subscriptionsSubscriptions.

Select Spanner → tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.

If you don’t see Spanner in Google Play, check whether you’re using the same Google account that made the purchase.

If your plan is billed through Spanner directly, open Spanner and go to SettingsAccountPlan & Billing, then choose Manage subscription (or similar) to cancel.

Web-billed subscriptions are managed in your Spanner account on the web rather than in Apple/Google subscription settings.
Deleting the Spanner app does not cancel your subscription. Make sure you cancel through Apple, Google Play, or the website where you subscribed.

What happens when a subscription ends

When your subscription ends (because you canceled and the paid period finished, or a renewal didn’t go through), your account typically moves to the Free plan.

  • Pro features turn off at the end of your billing period (or immediately if a trial ends, depending on the store’s rules).
  • You can still sign in and access Spanner on supported devices.
  • Some Apps or features may become limited until you resubscribe (for example, anything labeled “Pro” in the app).
Exact limits depend on the current Free vs. Pro benefits. For a simple comparison, see the Spanner Plans (Free vs. Pro) page in this documentation set.

How to confirm your cancellation went through

After canceling, return to your Apple Subscriptions or Google Play Subscriptions page and confirm Spanner shows Expires or Will not renew.

Open SettingsAccountPlan & Billing. You should see your plan still active until the end date, or a message that it’s scheduled to end.

If billing looks wrong

  • Confirm you’re signed into the same Apple ID/Google account that paid for the subscription.
  • In Spanner, confirm you’re signed into the same Spanner account you used before (especially if you’ve used multiple emails or sign-in methods).
  • Close and reopen Spanner, then check Plan & Billing again.
Receipts and renewal details live in the store (Apple/Google) if you subscribed there.
  • Check if you subscribed on a different device (for example, subscribed on iPhone but looking in Google Play).
  • Check for a different Apple ID/Google account on the device.
  • In Spanner, look in Plan & Billing for a note like “Managed by Apple” or “Managed by Google Play.”

Renewals, refunds, and receipts are handled by the place you subscribed:

  • Apple App Store: purchase history and receipts are in your Apple account.
  • Google Play: receipts are in Google Play order history.
  • Web subscription: receipts are available in your Spanner account billing area (if provided).
If you’re trying to avoid another charge, cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal time (stores may process renewals slightly ahead of the renewal date depending on region and settings).
